A 22-year-old Connersville, Indiana, man was arrested on Sunday, August 7, for allegedly beating his girlfriend’s four-year-old boy because the boy peed in his pants.
The man is now being held in the Tippecanoe County Jail on suspicion of battery on a child resulting in serious bodily injury and possession of marijuana, according to the Lafayette Journal & Courier. He was arrested at his apartment on 22nd Street in Lafayette on Sunday.
The accused told police he had taken the boy to a park that day and became angry when the boy urinated in his pants despite being asked multiple times if he needed to use the bathroom.
According to an affidavit, the man got into a fight with the boy’s grandfather over the grandfather’s allegations that the accused had hit the boy on the buttocks with a belt, bruising him. The boy’s mother then called the police.
A marijuana pipe was discovered in the man’s apartment, hence the possession charge.
The investigation is ongoing.
