The Post-Tribune reports that Gary police have apprehended a man who caused a Gary auto accident and fled the scene.
A Gary police officer attempted to pull over the 20-year-old driver for not wearing his seat belt, but the Gary driver took off at a high rate of speed instead of pulling over. The Gary driver then crashed into a residence, causing the Gary auto accident. He fled the scene of the accident on foot, but was quickly caught by Gary police.
The Gary man was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, resisting law enforcement and several misdemeanor charges.
Do you think stiffer penalties should be given for those who flee the scene of a Gary auto accident? What do you think the penalties should be?
