WTHR reports that an officer has been injured in an Indianapolis auto accident.
The accident occurred when a vehicle, driven by a 22-year-old, crossed the center line as he was approaching the police cruiser. The officer attempted to move out of the way as he saw the vehicle approaching but was unsuccessful.
The vehicle struck the officer’s car then came to a stop about 100 yards away after striking a utility pole. The utility pole fell on the vehicle, and the driver had to be extracted.
Both drivers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Police report that the 22-year-old driver appeared to be intoxicated and are waiting for official toxicology reports.
