The Post-Tribune reports that frustrated customers who were recently treated in Porter Hospital’s emergency room are upset over hospital bills from the Hospital’s new Emergency Room physicians group.

Patients have received bills that are two to four times larger than what they had paid in the past or what they were told they would owe.

The Indiana insurance dispute is between Anthem, the states largest health insurer, and Apollo MD, a physician outsourcing firm. Apollo physicians began covering Porter Hospital on February 1st, but the group is not a preferred provider in the Anthem network.

The Indiana insurance dispute is at a stalemate, with Apollo MD yet to sign a contract with Anthem. In the meantime patients are upset over high bills for services they thought were covered.
