Two people were seriously injured as the result of an Indianapolis Truck Accident earlier this week. A report from WBIW News stated the crash occurred at approximately 11 p.m. on Tuesday night along I-465, near the East Street exit.
The Indiana State Police Department indicated the tractor-trailer combination carrying two passengers was traveling westbound when a minivan suddenly attempted to change lanes and collided with the big rig. The impact of the crash forced the large truck off of the road, where it then rolled. The truck skid across the shoulder of the road until it plunged into a body of water along the highway. It then began to sink into the icy water.
Rescue crews were called to the scene, where divers worked to free two victims trapped inside the cab of the mangled truck. Both individuals were eventually pulled to safety and taken to a local hospital for further examination and treatment.
Investigators are continuing to examine what contributing factors may have played a role in causing the crash.
