Each year, thousands of workers in Indiana are seriously injured or killed due to workplace accidents. The Indianapolis Workers’ Compensation Lawyers with Stewart & Stewart Attorneys explain that a large portion of those accidents are caused by contact with objects at a worksite or slips and falls.
One recent accident involved both contributing factors at a self-storage facility in Indianapolis left one man seriously injured. An article from Inside Self-Storage stated the incident occurred last month at a facility on Rockville Road in Wayne Township.
Reports indicate the victim was unloading a pallet of goods from the trailer of an 18-wheeler using a pallet jack. When the worker lifted the pallet from the bed of the trailer though, the load shifted. This caused the worker to fall from the rear of the trailer with his leg caught beneath the pallet, leaving him trapped and hanging upside down.
Rescue crews were called to the scene and were able to free the man before transporting him to a local trauma center for treatment for injuries sustained in the accident.
The law firm’s team of Indianapolis Personal Injury Lawyers is aware of how difficult overcoming such work-related injuries can be and encourage anyone who has been hurt while on-the-job to discuss their legal rights with a reputable attorney immediately.
