Police in Terre Haute, Indiana, are still looking for the driver of a white van with Ohio plates who fled from the scene of a five-car pileup on Interstate 70 on Saturday evening.
The accident, which occurred in a construction zone at 5:47 p.m., resulted in a trip to the hospital for one driver and minor injuries for several others.
Indiana State Police say the accident began in the eastbound lanes of I-70 when a Luxury Line Charter Tours Inc. bus failed to slow done in a construction zone and rear-ended a tractor trailer driven by a 64-year-old man from Paris, Texas. The bus, which was driven by a 53-year-old man from Troy, Michigan, was carrying nine passengers at the time. The tractor-trailer then rear-ended another tractor-trailer driven by a 43-year-old man from Carthage, Missouri.
The tour bus driver was hospitalized with leg injuries and several bus passengers complained of minor injuries but refused treatment.
Also involved in the crash was a Ford Escape driven by a 47-year-old Willow Hill, Illinois, man. The Escape was struck from behind and pushed into the rear of the tour bus by a full-sized white passenger van, described as a GMC or Chevrolet and driven by a white male.
Police are still looking for the van and its driver, who fled the scene headed east.
