Trucking companies and their drivers are required to adhere to certain standards of vehicle maintenance to ensure vehicles are safe. The Indianapolis Truck Accident Lawyers with Stewart & Stewart Attorneys explain one of these standards requires tires to be properly maintained and changed in order to prevent blowouts on the highway.
A tire failure was responsible for a recent collision in Hendricks County that claimed the lives of two elderly victims. According to an article published by The Indianapolis Star, the wreck happened at around 3:00 p.m. on Oct. 22, near the intersection of U.S. 36 and County Road 200 East.
Reports indicate the dump truck was traveling along the highway when a tire on the vehicle suddenly lost pressure, causing the driver of the truck to lose control. The vehicle then careened into the path of a vehicle that was preparing to turn left and the two collided. The impact of the crash claimed the lives of both occupants of the vehicle that was struck.
Law enforcement officials have stated that charges are pending the outcome of a full investigation into the incident.
